• Gummed tapes only require water to activate the adhesive and can be applied by tearing off a strip, ducking in water, shaking off the excess and sticking it to the box needing sealing. Bench tape dispensers are also available and can moisten, cut and dispense in one easy action. They’re great for re-cycled cartons because they penetrate the box fibres and once dry, you achieve firm and secure packages. Security-wise, once dry, they cannot be tampered with as they and the carton mould themselves into one.
• Paper based self-adhesive tapes are suitable for packing and re-inforcing cardboard packaging. Having a water based acrylic adhesive, the adhesion is excellent and requires little pressure when sealing by hand. Although rather expensive when compared to other packing tapes, you do achieve top quality performance nonetheless.
